“Coach Kevin” co-authored Lynette Woodard (first female Harlem Globetrotter) basketball handbook and had a small role in the movie Cottonmouth.He has done TV and Radio commentary for NCAA women’s collegiate basketball games, and is a regular speaker for civic groups and the FCA.
Biography
Kevin Cook served ten years as assistant coach with the WNBA Houston Comets...the longest consecutive run of any coach in the league history!The year 2006 was a very exciting time ,as Kevin was named the Head Coach of the Nigerian National team that competed in the 2006 World Championships in Sao Paulo, Brazil! A Kevin brings a wealth of basketball knowledge to his camps and clinics.
Kevin served on the winning Western conference all-star staff in the first three WNBA All-Star games as well as touring Brazil as coach with the WNBA All-Stars in 1998. Prior to his ultra-successful stint with the Comets, Kevin served two years as head coach at Garden City College that included a 20 win season and #12 National ranking. He spent one decade as assistant coach at the University of Kansas that also saw 4 conference champions and NCAA tournaments.
Coached Team Nigeria to 7-1 Record and Silver medal at the All African Games held in Algeria - July of 2007
Kevin has also served as head coach for a traveling team as they played Division 1 institutions in pre season exhibition games November 2001 his team went 10-1 including victories over Rutgers, Maryland, West Virginia, and current National Champion University of Connecticut, and he traveled to Brazil to do a week long camp with former Comet Janeth Arcain.
After a highly successful Travel team tour, where the team went 8 - 4 the first two weeks in November, he made a trek to Moscow, Russia where he served as a consultant for the Spartak Professional team that won the 2005 EuroCup!
